Al S: Bars that automatically add gratuity suck. The Ace Hotel lobby bar adds 18%, which is ridiculous because that's not even a good tip. Normally I'd tip more but I resent the auto tip.

Al S: Best bagels I've found in NYC. I'm partial to the salt bagels but they're all good. Egg and cheese on salt is a serious sandwich. Bagels are huge, come hungry, leave full. Show up early to avoid line.
Al S: Lunch specials are the way to do: 11 am to 3 pm every day, except for Sundays and holidays, with a wide variety of options, all priced between $8 and $12.

Al S: El Tiante, the sandwich joint on Yawkey, is one of the few places at Fenway where you can get a chicken sausage sandwich. A must if you, like me, do not dig on swine. Only open during Sox games though

Al S: Ask for the habanero hot sauce, then add it sparingly to the salsa, your tacos and anything else you want to burn your taste buds. So hot, so delicious.
Al S: Fantastic coffee, horrendous service. They mess up food orders more than they get them right. Grab java at George Howell then go across the street to Bread and Chocolate or Great Harvest for food.

Al S: The best thing about The Publick House is its extensive selection of rare (at least in the U.S.) Belgian beers, but the Monk Fries in a paper cone are a close second. Eat some with truffle ketchup.
