    Fantastic museum. Free to the public. Lots of oils, water colors and sculptures from lots of the Masters.Great collection in beautiful setting. Can be a maze so definitely take a map or the audio tour

    Be it relaxing by the fountain (end of the West Building corridor), admiring any of the permanent collection pieces or enjoying the temporary exhibitions, you can never go wrong by visiting the NGA!

    Excellent quality museum. Made of three buildings - wear comfy shoes. Could stay all day. Extensive stationery selection in gift shop.

    This is the only place in the Western Hemisphere to see a Leonardo da Vinci. If that isn’t reason enough, then free admission to Western art from the middle ages thru the Impressionists ought to be.

    When you go into the Impressists, view each painting from different distances. Up close you only see the brush strokes, but compare it to when you view it from across the room.

    Excellent Renaissance, Dutch, & post-Impressionist collections. Free. Restaurant usually has a menu by a well known DC chef, inspired by a current exhibition. Free concerts at 6.30 each Sunday.

    Overlooked Smithsonian. Lots of rooms with great art to get lost in. Don't try to look at everything in one day, you will burn yourself out.

    Try the daily free tours: for those who don't know much about art, the tours provide a starting point on appreciating the art. For the pros, the discussions are definitely engaging.

    The Cascade Cafe gives a 10% discount for Federal employees. That helps offset the high prices that all the gallery/museum cafes seem to be charging these days. The selection here is great as well.

    Sunday afternoons / evenings, they offer free performances in the rotunda. Gorgeous music, beautiful surroundings, no admission price - what more can you ask?
