There are a lot of interesting things to see here! I recommend the self-guided tour as you'll see a little more that way. If you want some history though, listen in on a tour guide.

The Texas State Capitol sports a sunset-red granite dome topped by the Goddess of Liberty. This icon, finished in 1888, towers even higher than Washington DC's Capitol. Watch this video for more info. Leer más

I love this building, especially the star on the top. From far you can't see "Texas" word, but if you see it closely you can read "Texas" word around the star. Must visit place in Austin!

If you haven't done it, you MUST stand in the center of the rotunda, look up, and speak softly. It is the most awesome your voice will ever sound! You don't need to speak loudly.

Morbid fact: The painter of the star inside the dome fell when his seat broke while painting. He shattered the floor, which was, at the time, made of the glass tiles that you now see in the library.
