Highland Kitchen specializes in comfort food, a lively ambiance, and strong cocktails. Try the spicy goat stew and the housemadeginger beer (also spicy). [Eater 38 Member]
A++ from the delicious comfort food to the incredible staff! Start w/ oysters, buffalo Brussels Sprouts and local beer on tap. The black bean burger is delish as well as the bolognese w/ truffle oil.
Bluegrass Brunch! Where else could you find live banjo, fiddle, and guitar on the menu but at Highland Kitchen's Sunday brunch? Put some south in your mouth with an order of shrimp and grits. Leer más

The kale and ancient grains salad is possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. Top off the meal with a side and a drink, especially love the Dorchester, and I am as happy as a clam.
Highland Kitchen has soul. You can taste it in the seafood gumbo, brimming with okra and andouille. A real neighborhood hangout, with solid bartending, good food, and a relaxed vibe. Leer más
Brunch is available only on Sundays. They dont take reservations. You need to get in line before it opens at 11am. Pancakes are to die for. I will come back for lunch/dinner
Bethere by 10:45 for brunch. Wait in line til 11am for doors to open.... into heaven! Perfect pancakes, best blackened catfish sandwich anywhere and order a ‘biggie’, a pint sized mimosa!
Everything! Eat it all... spicybuffalo chicken, garlic mashed... And service is great and totally nice about allergies. They have a gluten free menu, too.
Everything we eat is awesome. Get the specials because they are always changing and always great. Get there at 5 or after 9:30 if you don't want to wait on Saturday.
A year later, I still dream of the amazing meatloaf I had here. Also, the buffalo brussel sprouts are the best chicken wings I ever had. And I don't even like brussel sprouts!
Not to pile on, but the buffalo brussel sprouts *are* that good. Bolognese is delicious. Try and save room for dessert. Banana bread pudding is heaven.
I've only heard good things I was impressed! The homemadepotato gnocchi were like soft potatopillows in my mouth that sat in this rich concentrated stew broth. It went perfectly with a beer. Yum!
Joe is one of my favorite bartenders in the world & the Mark & Stormy* is beyond good. (*Makers Mark, homemade ginger-chili simple syrup, & soda) Try the Buffalo Brussel sprouts & be prepared to wait.
(Best of Boston 2013-SOMERVILLE) Improper Bostonian says, "'Bar' food at these prices has no business tasting so outstanding. Whether it's the spicycoconut curried goatstew or the jambalaya..."
Carrot & turnipsoup (special), mussels (delicious coconut-lobster broth), clams, black bean burger - just plain awesome - and of course, banana bread pudding. So glad we finally came here!
Sparkie, if you not at the Highland Kitchen on Mon. nite eating fried chicken.... your in the wrong damn place!! As they say in Hawaii....Ohno-lishious!!! I lived in New Orleans, try Jambalahya!
I get the hype - casual decor, live music, laid back vibe for Sunday brunch. But the food wasn't up to the mark - the deviled eggs, catfish, shrimp. Nothing made us want to come back for more.
The immense popularity of this quasi-neighborhood joint means there's a wait at 6pm on a Sunday. Order a plate of (3) deviled eggs from the bar to keep your hunger in check.
The cocktails were amazing, and the chickenfried pork was good, but whatever was on the gluten free menu that my friend had was..... About as tasty as dishwater.
Order the buffalo fried brussel sprouts. Sounds strange, but you won't regret it. All the amazing taste of buffalo wings with the complex texture of brussel sprouts.
They have deviled eggs and hush puppies… What more could you want??? Oh, and of COURSE their bartenders are stellar and make the most exceptional bevvies!!!
Great spot. Apparently it's the Belgian way to pour your beer with 50% foam.. So if you order a Duvel and it's full of foam, just think of it as authentic.
When you need an extra kick, order the off-the-menu Pelo del Perro from bartender Joe McGuirk. It's Spanish for “hair of the dog,” and essentially a really good fresh squeezed Tequila greyhound. Leer más
