If u ve a flight in the evening u are good even if u arrive 30 mins before flight. The airport is always deserted.
Best kept secret @ BWI? Concourse A TSA screen on the lower level near bag claim. Zero, I mean ZERO line. Incredible.
Silver Diner is a great place to dine for long layovers.
The only option for food/coffee in the int'l terminal has unpredictable, intermittent hours. Eat before you come. As for coffee, you're SOL.
Head to the Silver Diner and pick up a panini and a shake, you'll have them to you quick before your flight.

David MathesonAbril 12, 2013If heading to Washington DC, follow signs for Ground Transportation then signs for the B30 bus. It takes you to Greenbelt subway station for $6.
Walk to the opposite end of the MARC/Amtrak -> airport shuttle stop to the preceding stop & board before the crowd...
Make sure you get good for the longer flights...plenty of options

Extra time between flights? The rocking chairs along the ramp to Terminal B are nice (if you have noise reduction earphones).
If you’re going here try to arrive at the last minute because the airport doesn’t have jack squat for dining options.
Plenty of food selections, quick TSA lines, easy to navigate.
Stop brookstone in concourse d. Cool stuff ask for mike and ask about cool iphone projector and ipad accesories cool stuff. Ask for big mike
BWI does have PreCheck after 9p BUT sometimes they will honor it if they aren’t too busy.
Get here early. This is definitely a crowd airport with a congested security screening.
Laura HoweNoviembre 23, 2010Skip high priced taxis and the irritatingly long trip on Super Shuttle. Take Amtrak to and from DC. It's only $14, super fast and runs every 30 min or so from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm.

I agree with the clean bathrooms, but I've picked up my luggage at airports around the world in half the time I get it here. They are SLOW!! Carry on if you can.

Southwest is so in tune with their customers. They have such great service for a low cost airline. Makes me not want to fly any other airline.
TSA PreCheck line is a longer than most a majority of the time. Leave extra time for security.

David WileyJunio 9, 2012Don't wear sandals if you want to sit down. There are mice EVETYWHERE living under the chairs. Staff refer to them all as their pets.
Southwest Curbside check in is a must for a morning flight. The line always moves faster.
It's all about the terminal at BWI. Southwest terminal rocks while D terminal (airtran, us airways etc) is a notch above the 7th layer of he'll. Just sayin.

Sadly the sneaky lower level security has now been closed. Timing is everything on the upper level. Fkrs!

Jaslynn DoddsFebrero 10, 2013Seems to have good luck at BWI. Just checked my 67lb bag with no problem on SW and got through security in 15 min. If the security line is long, try downstairs. It's never really crowded.
The food at duclaw is better tasting than the one in arundel mills. Beer is a little off the seasons from the others but ateast is good craft beer in an airport.

You have to sit and rock for awhile on the observation deck...relaxing easy to wait :-)
Absolutely.... The security lines may be Heavy, but they do "shuttle" you through pretty quick!
