Prince shot Purple Rain here, so it’s def. legendary. If you get the chance to see a show here, do so. The place is big enough to feel the energy, yet small enough to see the band.
Quinn MAgosto 26, 2014Love the space, it's wide enough that you can see wherever you're standing and not too deep so you're always pretty close to the stage. Large bathrooms too.
Great sight lines, even when it's packed. I like to stand stage right by the coat check if I want to hear the music but don't really care to watch the band.
See the bartender at the upstairs front bar (by the windows) with the white shirt and rolled up sleeves. Best bartender in the cities!!! He's amazing and reads minds. Or just KNOWS- Best place for birthdays! Secret Deal: you +1 get into any show, even if it's sold out, plus a free bottle of champagne!

Emily DyessMarzo 13, 2012If you are a short woman, this place is huge and tall people seem to be abundant. You will be standing for a while unless you grab a table, but if you want to see wear tall boots or heels.

The headliner usually goes on around 10 p.m. Get there well before that for sold out shows for a good spot though.

Keep an eye out for Prince, who lives in a secret network of tunnels located deep beneath the stage.
Try the Diamond Dog. It's a hot dog wrapped in bacon, AND it's named after a Bowie record!

Scott SmithNoviembre 19, 2010Go see a national or local band at the historical First Avenue Mainroom or the 7th Street Entry next door, and enjoy 40 years of First Avenue history.
It's not a good idea to try to smoke weed in here. Security is on point and they will kick your ass out!! ...unless you are real sneaky about it- Catch a show from right behind the sound board. Enjoy the great view, the superb mix and easy access to the back bar.

First time taking advantage of my member sight line table...so worth it.
If you can't see the stage check out the tv monitors, the VJ's do an excellent job.

HISTORYMayo 21, 2010This venue was once the Greyhound bus station, and it's alleged that ghosts of travelers and homeless people who died at the bus station now haunt First Avenue.
Hanging out by the window on the second floor is kind of awesome.

Nothing beats First Ave. Great place for music.
