The original store is a much better value than the cafe. The smoked salmon and herring here will forever ruin your enjoyment of store-bought smoked salmon.
When I think of a place that encapsulates the essence of manhattan. I think of Everyman. Eclectic crowd, theater in the back, the best coffee, only slightly pretentious.
Go before noon to avoid long checkout lines. The prepared foods are way overpriced.
