This West Village basement lounge is owned by mixologist Joseph Schwartz. Drinks are served with ice that's custom-made for each glass.

Perhaps it was just the moment, but Little Branch was far-off the standards set by other NYC mixology peers. Poor service, a cocktail menu mostly of standards, and a damp room. Many better options.

This is my favorite cocktail bar in NYC, by far-- they've made some of the best I've had. Could spend hours at the bar watch the able bartenders make drinks.

If you have trouble deciding what to order, let them decide for you. Ask for the Bartender's Choice and tell them what flavors/liquors you like.

Nice location, decent ambiance. After descending the stairs, you look around expecting more but find less. The live music rescues the semi-anticlimactic experience. It's alright, but have a Plan B.
