City Museum of Ljubljana boasts a vast and rich permanent collection of Ljubljana's history. You can also buy tickets for the Roman Trail, taking in ten monuments of the Roman city of Emona.
The remains of a Roman house include an original 1st century floor indicating the distribution of rooms, part of a nearby road, and a cloaca (sewer shaft), which still serves its original purpose.
The Emona city wall was built between 14 and 15 AD. This, almost entire length of the southern city wall, was renovated in 1930s to designs by the architect Jože Plečnik.
iEmona, located in the underpass next to remains of Emona's northern city gate, is an interactive presentation and info point about the legacy of the Roman city of Emona. Entrance is free of charge.
The stone-built Roman well is on view next to the pedestrian entrance to the parking garage. In the Roman times the area of Kongresni trg used to be situated next to the city walls of Emona .
This shows there was a strong community of early Christians in Emona at that time. Its existence is also confirmed by written records which refer to Emonan bishops.
On view from 29 May 2014 onwards: new permanent exhibition "Stories from the Meeting Point of Different Worlds" bringing together archaeological finds from the Roman times.
