It's difficult to remember how this old converted power station used to be before the Tate moved in in 2000, so successful has it been! One of the best view of the river, and some fab modern art too.
Still a jaw-dropping sight, even after you've seen it nearly every day! Inside it's every bit an opulent cathedral. Do go up to the Whispering Gallery!
Fabulous museum located in a corner of the Barbican complex. Excellent historical information on London. Then go outside and see parts of the old Roman wall!
Extremely popular, and rightly so! Great views from the top (on a clear day). Worth booking in advance, especially on weekends and holidays.
Distinctive traditional pub, rumoured to have been the Savoy Hotel's coal cellar. Gilbert and Sullivan performed here. Head down to the basement where it's a bit quieter.
Exhibitions of contemporary art and cinema, talks, contemporary music events and a very cool café bar hangout. It's art right here, right now.
Brilliant museum and displays, but best of all is the new (ish) glass covered atrium with the old British Library Reading Room in the centre. Wonderful just to sit in.
London's oldest and most varied live music venues was recently saved from closure (hooray!). Jazz, rock, classical, swing - dance the night away!
Just one of London's great parks (we're so lucky!). Formal gardens, wild bits, horse riding, playgrounds, tennis, outdoor swimming, the Serpentine Gallery... you could easily spend a whole day here!
Located out in Shepherd's Bush, it's not the most central place to shop in London, but has everything you need for a whole day of shopping, eating and entertainment.
