Go to the no name tossed salad store and order a breakfast with beef sausage. Beef sausage runs out early, though
Listen to great music before catching the train or LIRR!
Go see johnny at Tracks Bar and ask him about mountain biking or snowboarding.
If you plan on buying a drink from one of the magazine vendors dont. Go to the Kmart and buy your beverage there and save a $1
If your in the station try Moes Southwest Grill.(the one next to subway's)

Best place to use the restroom if you're in the area and don't have any valuables.
Just keep in mind that this (commuting thing) sucks equally for everyone. Try to ignore the drunk sport-tards, guidos, and treat the homeless people and faux armed guards with courtesy.

Sometimes they announce the track before the train arrives, just to mess with weary travelers.
Avoid this place at rush hour. Who am I kidding? It's rush hour around here from 5a to midnight.

to avoid the line and get a seat on the regional express, watch for the Amtrak employee to reverse the escalator--that is your stairway
Quite possibly the single most miserable place in all of New York City. Even worse than Turtle Bay.
