Absolutely worth your day and your $7. Tons of trains (I mean a ton), interactive exhibits, and history. Will keep all ages entertained for hours. In a decommissioned subway station. BYO lunch area!

The museum is in abandoned subway station right across from the MTA HQ in Brooklyn. Come during a cool day as a majority of the museum is not air conditioned. Kids and Adults will enjoy this.

Take a nap on the basket weave seats in a 1930s subway car. Be disappointed there is no graffiti inside the 1980s subway car. Bring a sack lunch and be sure to check out the kids' art work!

Huge museum, well worth the admission. Check out old subway cars from the early 1900s, and historic transit maps. Tends to attract a children crowd.

The old cars are the best. They did a nice job with the adverts in each to reflect the times. Totally worth the $7. I'd say this is a definite underrated museum in New York.

Great lil museum for killing some time, more kid orientated and more "displays to read" than anything else. Highlight is the old subway station downstairs with retro subway train stock.

Everyone who comes here will have a great time, kids and adults. What makes this a great museum is the fact that it’s an old subway station. Extremely interesting and repeat visits never get old!

If you like trains it's worth the trip. The museum is near the downtown area of Brooklyn- an area being gentrified in The last few years. Transit museum offers many neat photo ops.

The New York Transit Museum is fantastic! You will learn a bit about how the subway/tunnels were developed to support MTA’s subway system and the history from its beginnings!

A fun visit. Gets warm and stuffy in the first half of the visit. The trains are the main treat/event and are fun to walk through. The advertisements are really cool dating back to the 19x0s.

Be sure to go downstairs to the platform & check out the old train cars! You can even step into a signal “tower”, hiding behind the stairs, and watch real trains’ signals on nearby tracks.

The museum originally opened as a temporary exhibition during the 1976 bicentennial celebrations, but it was so popular that the MTA decided to make it a permanent fixture.
