Outstanding German restaurant. I'm a native German and the Sauerbraten and the Rote Grütze were both authentic and delicious. This place is easily on par with German restaurants in Germany.
I am German; I was born and raised there. This is the best German food I have had in the US! The potato pancakes (Kartoffelpuffer) are better than the ones my mom used to make!
Excellent food and all-around very good, although it does diverge from authenticity a bit. Probably the coolest atmosphere of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. It is done up like a 1970s GDR pub
Very tasty food and great selection of German beers. Do try the steak. Friendly staff. Make a reservation as you might need to wait for a table - the place is a bit small.
Cheese spätzle is bomb. Jägerschnitzel is bomb too. Way better than Suppenküche in terms of vibe, price, and wait time. Better quality without the unneeded hype
Definitely authentic German food. Delicious meat and mashed potatoes. Homey comfortable environment. Little meat and cheese appetizer was a nice surprise!
The stuffed chicken is excellent, as is the sauerbraten. And the potato pancakes. And pretty much everything. Great atmosphere. Small, and a little loud.
Suppenkuche is more accessible, and certainly more busy, but Walzwerk provides an interesting (and hipper) East German alternative. But do yourself a favor: skip the herring.
It's grandma food. Very tasty! Try: Appetizer: herring, entree: beef roulade, desert: apple strudel. It has the DDR, Marx, Lenin and Hegel for decoration.
East German restaurant. Special spaetzel comes with mixed salad. Potato pancakes are thicker than you may be used to, with mashed potatoes inside a crispy crust.
