- Jorge LanderosSeptiembre 17, 2014Simple y sencillamente un concepto de cocina diferente. Excepcional
- Amazing and absurdly creative dim sum-style dishes. Not cheap but not too expensive either ($50–80/person for food). Don't worry about reservations: come by at 5 or 5:15 on a weeknight and you're set.
- Wilson Favre-DelerueJunio 2, 2017There is a lovely pleasure in eating modern American food dim sum style: say yes to anything coming off those carts, and have EVERY quail (the CA state bird) dish.
- Lives up to hype. Affordable, bougie "dim sum" carts + hip vibes. Standouts: guinea hen dumpling, lamb tartare w/ kimchi/nori crackers, chanterelle-yuba ‘all’amatriciana’ w/ guanciale, liver mouse.
- Jo MassieMayo 13, 2016I completely and totally LOVED everything about this place! Especially the sourdough, sauerkraut, ricotta pancake. So good! Great ethos and idea behind the restaurant too and good value for money :)

- Mike WinstonJunio 30, 2016Extraordinarily popular and has managed to cross dim sum format with New Californian cuisine. It can get pricey, but it ultimately lives up to all of the hype. Read all about it on WinstonWanders.com
- Vivian WangJulio 5, 2015😍😍 if you are still up at midnight just make a reservation for 60 days later. You won't regret it. Don't get too many things from the menu because everything they bring out in trays is amazing.
- tablehopperAgosto 3, 2014Your server will present you with a list of cooked-to-order options from the kitchen, but I recommend sitting tight & seeing what comes to your table first (like the trout roe chip and dip). Leer más
- BommyMayo 30, 2016A decent number of vegetarian dishes. Almond biscuits with duck liver mousse, garlic bread with burrata, and state bird quail are absolute gems. Definitely a must-try once kind of restaurant.
- KylieJunio 28, 2014Wise Andrew recommended all the pancakes, and we were not misled. The multigrain pancake with smoked duck and maple glaze was out of this world. If possible, sit at the counter, you won't regret it.
- Statebird is still a fave... Love the variations of their signature mochi... Recent fave is the choco hazelnut profiterole...
- Jon B.Septiembre 3, 2017The chantarelle-yuba 'all'amatriciana' with jowl bacon, pecorino and basil is still one of the best dishes I have ever had.
- H KEnero 19, 2016Besides the menu, they have dim sum style menu where they bring out small dishes to your table. Everything tasted great. Notable items were the state bird (quail) with provisions, garlic bread
- Vicky OAbril 2, 2018So delicious loved this restaurant! Half their menu is like yum cha they come around with trolleys. The other half is order from the menu. The octopus and braised ribs are delish!
- Paul FarrellJulio 8, 2015Stuart Brioza running an interesting concept & still not losing sight of the food and service. Very hands on and great to see. Chat to the staff and choose wisely as there is so much choice
- Katherine M.Julio 16, 2014Absolutely delightful, creative American cuisine served a la carte on trays. So fun. Get in line 30+ min before it opens if you don't have a reservation. As Andrew says, "Get the pancakes."
- Amy YFebrero 28, 2015Dim sum style concept with food from all around the world. Almost impossible to get a reservation, but you can wait in line for walk-ins. They do seatings at 5:30, 7:30, 8:45
- steenFebrero 11, 2019It’s dim sum style- come around with dishes that you can pick and choose. They add up so keep that in mind. I’d come here for their desserts alone though. The ice cream sandwich is out of this world!
- Still fantastic. Garlic noodles with squid, garlic knot with burrata, poppy seed pancake with beef tongue, and Negroni fugazi all great.
- olivier PEYREOctubre 13, 2017BONUS, BC IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A TABLE ANYWAY: New American goes dim-sum style. Tip: book a late PM table at the sister restaurant next door The Progress and ask if they have room at State Bird.
- Marianne NJunio 17, 2018Didn’t like that the walk-ins were seated before us (despite us having a reservation) but the space is nice, the food is interesting. The quail, dumplings, carrot mochi and pork belly were memorable.
- Cody HardMayo 29, 2017A+ overall. I loved the pork belly & ice cream sandwich. Girlfriend loved the state bird & smoked avocado. Both of us were big fans of the cheese/squash toast, sauerkraut pancakes & peanut milk shot.
- Elizabeth BarelliMayo 7, 2014You can book a reservation in advance to avoid waiting in line (minimum 8 people) and get the prix fix menu: you will be served with more than a dozen of delicious small dishes... absolutely worth it!
- Simon TanAbril 2, 2018Buttermilk fried quail, macaron ice cream sandwiches, guinea hen dumpling, hamachi sashimi nori cracker, pancakes, pomegranate granita. New American food/tapas served DIM SUM style on carts and trays.
- Meah BNoviembre 26, 2015Crazy spot to get reservations but so worth it once you manage to stop by. Unique selection of dishes - the CA State Bird is amazing and you can never go wrong with the pork belly.
- Kim OswellAbril 10, 2016Sit at the chef's counter and enjoy the behind-the-scenes action of the food preparation. The dim sum dishes are all great. I suggest ending with a savory dessert of duck liver mousse.
- It's so good Ive bookmarked their res page hoping for an opening. Recommend skipping menu ordering all together. Perfect to go as a group of 4 so you can try a bite everything the cart comes by with!
- Elyse EstradaJulio 26, 2014Get a group of 8 and explore the most eccentric tasting menu ranging from giant burrata filled garlic knots to yellow watermelon chili salad to pork belly and beyond. So much deliciousness!
- Tyler SzaboSeptiembre 25, 2015Western dim sum. Make a reservation as walk-ins will wait a long time and might not get in. Check the address, as there is no sign. Food is delicious and hard to stop :P. Staff are really friendly.
- Glad to see they have good veg options: the porcini is to die for! Lots of flavor! The squash Bochi was also quite good.
- Johnnie SkywalkingOctubre 23, 2016At this dim sum style restaurant, everything they bring is tempting but you must ask for dumpling if they didn't come around. $3 but it's 100 times satisfaction guaranteed.
- Bill DDiciembre 8, 2017Food was innovative and tasty. Some items were pretty rich. The wine pours small and pricey ($15 was the least expensive). Corkage fee is $30 each for the first two bottles. Service was Great!
- Emily KaneEnero 5, 2016Treat yo self and say yes to everything once, but say yes to the state bird dumplings twice. Make sure to save the tiniest bit of stomach space for one of the many life-changing desserts.
- Anthony PopeoNoviembre 18, 2014Tables are bookable 60 days ahead of time (that's the best time to make a reservation). The food is phenomenal; only downside is the amount of time you'll spend figuring out what you want to eat.
- Jim PrattMarzo 25, 2016Everything we had here was excellent. That said, we will probably visit their sister restaurant first when we come back. Both are fun, great atmospheres, fab service, and totally enjoyable.
- _Julio 12, 2015Amazing food! Delicious but the portion size is small for the price they charge. Best is a group of 4 to try everything on their menu.

- Jonathan WMayo 13, 2014Most everything is a hit (esp. Glazed Pork Ribs and Nori cracker w/hamachi/avocado) but here are some misses (things to pass on): Choc. Cake w/Brown Butter, Caesar Asparagus, & pastrami beef tongue.
- Mike DJunio 7, 2016A crazy, hectic & fun atmosphere. Sit at the 2 top drink bar and watch everything swirl around you. Just trust whatever is on the menu that night will be delicious
- Jiafang JiangMarzo 16, 2017Recomend: Uni pancake, ricotta pancake, ice cream sandwich. Garlic bread is AMAZING. Good: duck liver, trout and avocado dips, rose mousse, pork belly, sausage. So-so: all vegetables. Oyster is meh.
- Hannah GMEnero 14, 2016Grab whatever looks good as it comes around (trout croquettes, clams and quinoa, pork belly, etc) and be sure to order some pancakes and state bird from the commandables!
- Laurent DecosseMayo 20, 2015The steak tartare with garlic oil was amazing. The fresh burratta was excellent. It is worth the wait and make reservations.
- Jacob GyllenstiernaFebrero 20, 2014Get: guinea hen dumpling, hamachi on nori cracker and state bird. MUST get: spicy Dungeness crab with kimchi, brandade with smoked sturgeon and spiced cocoa nib ice cream sandwich.
- Exclusive ResortsSeptiembre 5, 2012"The food is 'dim sum'. Order a few hot items off the menu but also try the items brought around on carts or trays. It was all universally delicious and novel. It's worth a visit if you're in town."
- Frances JamesDiciembre 1, 2014Excellent. Some of the best food in the city. American cuisine done Dim Sum style. Walk up at 5pm with only 2 of you and you might get a seat at the bar.
